Disclaimer: Data protection

In close collaboration with our hosting providers, we strive to protect our databases, as effectively as possible, against external access, loss, misuse or falsification.

When our web pages are accessed, the following data is stored in log files: IP address, date, time, browser query, and general transferred information about the operating system and browser. This usage data provides the basis for statistical, anonymous analysis, so that trends can be identified, on which basis we can improve what we offer accordingly.

Disclaimer: Google Analytics

In exceptional cases only, the full IP address is transferred to a Google server in the USA and truncated there. Google will use this information for the purpose of evaluating your use of the website, compiling reports on website activity for the website operators, and providing other services relating to website and Internet usage. Google may also transfer this information to third parties where required to do so by law, or where third parties process this data on Google’s behalf. The IP address sent by your browser in the context of Google Analytics will not be combined with other data by Google.

You can prevent the installation of cookies by configuring your browser accordingly, but please note that if you do this, you might not be able to use the full functionality of this website. Online donations

The Society for Threatened Peoples (STP) provides the following payment options for online donations: Visa, Mastercard, PostFinance card, PostFinance E‑Finance, direct debit and pay-in slip. The data is transferred in encrypted form. The Society for Threatened Peoples does not store any card data itself. The payment data is processed directly through RaiseNow, a certified partner of the credit card industry (PCI DSS). Our service providers are only permitted to use the information for the purpose of carrying out their tasks and are obliged to adhere to Switzerland’s data protection regulations. You can deduct your donation from your taxable income. Donors are sent a donation receipt via email or post, for the attention of the tax authorities.

Newsletter

Newsletters are dispatched via "MailChimp", a newsletter dispatch platform run by the US provider Rocket Science Group. The newsletter data and email addresses pertaining to our newsletter recipients are stored on MailChimp’s servers in the USA. MailChimp uses this information for dispatch and analysis of newsletters on our behalf. Based on its own information, MailChimp can also use this data for optimisation or improvement of its own services, e.g. for technical optimisation of the dispatch and presentation of newsletters or, for commercial purposes, to determine which countries the recipients come from. However, MailChimp does not use our newsletter recipients’ data for the purpose of writing to them themselves, or pass it on to third parties. MailChimp is certified in accordance with the US-EU data protection agreement "Privacy Shield" and is thus obliged to adhere to the EU’s data protection standards. In addition, we have entered into a data processing agreement with MailChimp. This is a contract, in which MailChimp pledges to protect our users’ data, to process it in accordance with its data protection regulations on our behalf and, in particular, not to pass it on to third parties.
